Mazes Mazes are an excellent way to enrich your rat's mind. If you are ambitious enough, you can create a traditional "rat maze", (like you see in those scientific experiments all the time.) While building it, keep in mind that the maze needs to be enclosed so that your rat can't just climb over the walls and out of the maze. One suggestion is a plexi glass lid with air holes cut into it. However it is not necessary to be so literal with your maze. In the wild, rats have to make their way through mazes every day, but these are environmental mazes of garbage and miscellaneous junk. You can recreate this in your playroom. Just spill out a mess of bags, clothes, boxes, tubes, jugs, etc... all around the floor for your rats to search through and explore. Change it up every time, and add new kinds of items when you can, cycling out old ones that have maybe become too dirty. To heighten the experience hide treats here and there for them to find.
