Human Interaction Social interaction is crucial to the enrichment of a rat's life. Not only does a companion rat need to socialize with other rats, but they also thrive by interacting with you, their human care giver. You should spend time with your rats EVERY day, preferably for at least an hour. While they are out, don't always just sit back and watch (although this is fun too), get right into the thick of things and play one on one with them.
