The only reason we didn't give this playpen 5 paws is because with the lid it really doesn't let the caregiver sit in there and play with the rats, so it cuts out the human interaction aspect. We like to use this playpen for taking our rats outside. It lets our rats run in the grass and enjoy all the smells, yet keeps them safely contained so that wondering dogs, cats, or birds of pray can't attack them. Always be sure to supervise your rats outside play time even if they are in this cage.
