RattyRat's Review: This cage is pretty darn close to the perfect cage. The wire is thick stainless steal 1/2" squares. The stainless steal is a thousand times more durable than powder coated wire and will last a life time. The close mesh means even babies can go in this cage without the ability to escape. We specifically designed this cage so that it would be one level, making it safe for all our elderly rats. Another bonus is that you can take the cage apart if you need to, it comes disassembled. Plus the whole front of the cage slides open for easy access and cleaning. This cage is strong, durable, and well crafted. The only downside we have found with this cage is that the only thing the company can provide to help keep the litter from being kicked out of the cage is these plastic 4" high barriers which you attach inside the cage next to each wall. Well we have found this very hard to clean, as litter gets caught in between the plastic barrier and the mesh walls. What we've decided to do to counter this problem is to remove the plastic barriers and have someone build us powder coated metal or plexi glass trays to slide into each half of the cage instead. With that, the cage is perfect.
