Nest Box Toy Homemade RattyRat's Review: This is a wonderful enrichment toy that mimics what rats would do out in the wild. Rat's love to build nests! With this toy you are providing them the means to do so. First you need a box of some kind. We used a store bought chinchilla bath house. The only other thing you need to do is provide the material nearby for them to make a nest out of. You could use cloth, or hay, or for the picture above, we used crumpled up paper. We happened to have the empty chin house sitting on a drawer and the drawer was filled with paper. Our rats had loads of fun taking the paper out of the drawer and stuffing it into the chin house to make a wonderful nest. This toy works great for in the cage or out in the playroom. Just remember to put the nesting material nearby but not in the box. You want the rats to have the fun of bringing all the material into the box for a comfy nest.
