Rats Love to Groom You Rats love to groom each other as a way to socialize with one another. Once they have accepted you into their colony, some rats may want to groom you as well. They will do this by licking and nibbling at your skin. This is a wonderful sign that your rats are enjoying their bond with you. Not all rats are into grooming people though.
