Breeding Rats

Here at RattyRat.com we support good reputable breeders that have done years of research on how to properly breed, and then do so. However, we do not condone any one that breeds their rats just for the fun of it, or to show their kids the miracle of birth, or for whatever other reason. There are so many rats out there that need good loving homes. Please don't add to the epidemic of homeless rats.

If you really want to experience raising baby rats, offer to foster rats from the humane society. They frequently get pregnant females.

This being said, sometimes people have accidental litters, either by unknowingly adopting a pregnant female, or through other accidental means. For this RattyRat.com unfortunately has no advice to offer, as we have never raised a litter ourselves. There is a lot of information to know, about how to care for a pregnant rat, and then how to care for the babies when they are born.
